One More Week of Freedom

There was a snafu with the church.  Evidently when they said they had September 20th at 3:30 free what they meant was:  "We have a Sweet 16 booked for that exact time and date."  As a result of this, I have one more week of freedom before tying the knot.  Luckily Giando's was able to accommodate the switch.  Nothing else has changed, just the date.  The cast is still intact.

The new date for the wedding is:

Wedding Dress

This post is NOT for Josh's eyes.

So....Back in May, Danielle took me to Michael's of Boston, and David's Bridal to start looking at dresses. In the end, they were all looking alike to me: poofy! (As in, lots of material and heavy!) I was convinced that the style of dress I wanted would not be found in any store, because the ones I liked were only available online. But of course, there's a huge risk ordering it online (even if I do give them all my measurements): they're not refundable! Eeek! So me and my mom did some browsing online yesterday, and we looked on David's Bridal online, as the last Web site of the day. And there it was! The dress. The link to it is here. So we took a drive to DB today and we walked out with a dress in our hands....Well not literally; but it's on order! So, here for your viewing pleasure, are the pictures of the wedding dress that my mom got me, along with a few others for the hell of it: Wedding Dress

Oh, and please do not say anything to Josh about the dress. He doesn't want to know anything about it or how it looks and all that. He will be seeing it for the first time when I walk down the aisle. And I intend to keep it that way.

Enjoy!

And The Winner Is

Brian and Danielle!

We (K and I) visited the Vegas Estate over Memorial weekend. We had a quick pow-wow with Brielle and asked them to be the Best Man and Maid of Honor. The seemed excited. Well Brian already knew he was in the running for the position but Danielle started smiling when we broached the subject. Although she did have a Margarita in front of her... I prefer to think it was because of the honor we bestowed upon her.

Did I mention that K and the Maid of Honor went dress shopping. Well, more like dress browsing. They took some pictures.

I think Brian will do a wonderful job as a Maid of Honor.

Seriously though. They went to David's Bridal and got pictures of nice dresses. That's all I know. That's all I want to know. K will post more on this topic later. Please don't mention anything to me.

As for the rest of the Wedding Party, Jason and Jess (my brother and sister) agreed to be the Groom's Man and Bride's Maid. We are having a small wedding party due to Polish tradition. For those of you who do not know, K is Polish. Yes, Polish-Polish. She speaks the language and was born in the Old Country. She moved to the States when she was four, and yes, she is a citizen. Even if she almost messed up signing the forms.

First Post

This is my first post on my wedding blog. Yes. I'm a geek. I know. You don't all have to say it at once.

K and I have just about set the date (September 20, 2008). I keep thinking that the this particular date is great because 08/20/2008 is such an easy date to remember, what with all those 0s, 2s, and 8s and all. Then I realize that September is the ninth month (thanks mom) and that 08/20/2008 look so familiar because it is my birthday.

The only thing we know of that is hanging us up on the date is that we have to have a formal meeting / conversation with the deacon of the church. He's on vacation this week, so that'll have to wait until next week.

The hall has been booked. Giando on the Water. Here's a picture taken from the terrace. Yes, that is the Empire State Building in the background. (I had to ask K to be sure.) The Statue of Liberty is also viewable from the terrace, but not in this picture.

The hall itself is not in the best neighborhood at first blush. But then you quickly realize its appeal when you enter. It has a great view of Manhattan. In contrast, if we had the wedding in Manhattan, we would only be able to have a view of Brooklyn, or ::shudder:: New Jersey. Also, it is down the street from Peter Luger. So it is actually a pretty swanky area.

Most important of all is the menu selection.

That's it for now. I hope to be adding more posts soon.
