Menu Update

K and I have now signed the contract for the reception hall. We are faxing it back tomorrow. Again, the menu can be found at http://www.giandoonthewater.com/banquet_menu.html. We are getting the full wedding meal (from Deluxe Cocktail Hour to Dessert) with the entrees chosen from section #1.

First Post

This is my first post on my wedding blog. Yes. I'm a geek. I know. You don't all have to say it at once.

K and I have just about set the date (September 20, 2008). I keep thinking that the this particular date is great because 08/20/2008 is such an easy date to remember, what with all those 0s, 2s, and 8s and all. Then I realize that September is the ninth month (thanks mom) and that 08/20/2008 look so familiar because it is my birthday.

The only thing we know of that is hanging us up on the date is that we have to have a formal meeting / conversation with the deacon of the church. He's on vacation this week, so that'll have to wait until next week.

The hall has been booked. Giando on the Water. Here's a picture taken from the terrace. Yes, that is the Empire State Building in the background. (I had to ask K to be sure.) The Statue of Liberty is also viewable from the terrace, but not in this picture.

The hall itself is not in the best neighborhood at first blush. But then you quickly realize its appeal when you enter. It has a great view of Manhattan. In contrast, if we had the wedding in Manhattan, we would only be able to have a view of Brooklyn, or ::shudder:: New Jersey. Also, it is down the street from Peter Luger. So it is actually a pretty swanky area.

Most important of all is the menu selection.

That's it for now. I hope to be adding more posts soon.
