Ok, so we haven't been around lately. And by lately I mean months. Well, that's because a lot has been going on, both in our personal lives, as well as, with the wedding plans. So let's dive right in.
First things first, The Photographer:
We don't have one. But we have looked around and found Pawell Lach. He is located in Greenpoint, a Polish neighborhood in Brooklyn where such notables as The Bride have lived. Yes, he is Polish. He comes recommended by our hairdresser and her friend.
His package includes prints, a nice photo album, and a web-based slideshow. Some add-ons that we are considering are: thank you cards (definite, K loves them), digital prints, and a second day of photo taking after the wedding. K and I were thinking of getting dolled up again and heading out to some nature for some additional pictures. Members of the wedding party can come if they like, but only if they want to. We understand the extra work it creates and that you people have lives outside of our wedding. Well, we don't really understand that last part, but we've been told it is so.
As it stands, we don't have him booked yet, but we plan to remedy that tomorrow (Monday 1/21/2008).
Next on the list, The DJ:
We met with Charlie of Privilege Entertainment last week. I guess you can call him a "full featured" DJ. His package includes an MC; a person to do the technical work, play the music, set up, etc; and a person to take requests. We are also considering his basic lighting package. It is properly synched up with the music and provides "atmosphere". K seemed to like that idea. He came recommended by a teacher at K's mom's school. Surprisingly enough, he's not Polish. I think he's Greek. We are scheduled to meet with him on Thursday (1/24/08).
Supposedly, he has his music list posted on the Web Site. I haven't found it yet, so if you can, please post a link. He was very willing to work with K and me to pick exactly what music we want played. There is even a 5 page worksheet we need to complete that will outline exactly what we want played and when. This means he will be playing the traditional Polish music at the appropriate times as well as Help! We are open to further suggestions if you have them.
Wedding Invites:
Ok, so technically we don't have any news on this front. But, we have ordered save the dates. I could put up a link to a sample, but how would that be fun? You'll just need to wait to see them when you get yours in the mail. K and I (especially K) spent quite a bit of time trying to find something fun and original. We hope you like them. We aren't sure when exactly we will be sending them out, but I believe the general idea is soon.
Dresses:
In one of the previous posts, K mentioned that she has picked out her dress. Well since then, we have actually picked it up. It is in her parent's basement so I can't accidentally see it. The next dress related event is coming up soon. K and The Maidens are planning a February trip to David's Bridal for bride's maids' dresses. This means that I'll be up in Marshfield and all of my family will be too busy to spend time with me. Finally!
On a related note: No tuxedo decisions have been made yet, but I am leaning toward this one.
Misc:
I believe that's all for now. But we are working on leads for many other things at the moment. Flowers, booking hotels, and invites are among them. We'll try to keep you posted on these topics as more details arise.
